Just a quick note to let everyone know that should they be unable to reach the site over the next 24 hours it’s because we’re moving to better servers.
Our servers are currently located in the US, but for whatever reason the pipe to the data centre is being squeezed when it hits its last hop before leaving China – causing frequent timeouts and extremely slow access to readers here in China. As such, we’ll be moving the site to servers based in Asia. This will make things much faster for those on this side of the world, and only a fraction slower for our North American/European visitors (it should still be decently fast). Most importantly, it will improve connectivity for those visitors actually in China.
Thanks for your patience. If you’re a member of the China Blog Network, you may notice intermittent outage of your CBN panel as well.
Good news indeed. Now if only facebook would pump more of their webs down the tubes towards asia, then it wouldn’t be such a pain in the arse trying to use FB!
